Chapter 17 - Etheric Centers and Their Coordination - Part II (Final Week)

Chapter 17 – Etheric Centers and Their Coordination – Part II

Last week while I was in California, engaged with planning meetings for the WSI Italian conclave, Valarie Drost stepped in to facilitate the class and create the class blog. Together we reviewed last week’s class discussion yesterday. Val explained that  the class went well, there was a good discussion, good questions with follow up answers.  We decided it would be a good thing to pick up this Wednesday evening where you left off last week.

I also would like to thank Shary for establishing a way for the class to meet on-line last week since the weather made it virtually impossible to gather together at the Center. Shary and Val worked closely together to create a situation where there would be no interruption in our studies giving everyone an opportunity, even from out of state, to engage in the class discussion on-line. Along that line, we have finally made a decision to financially commit, on an annual subscription basis to “Go To Meeting,” which, as I understand it, will allow us to easily create webinars, bringing those who are interested from outside the local area, into visual and audio contact with classes, Sunday services, and seminars, etc. Shary underwent many hours of research and experience to enable us to make the best decision possible for this endeavour. I am very comfortable with this decision. I think you will be as excited about it as I am. Shary will spend some time with us during pre-conference explaining how the whole process works. In the meantime, I encourage you all to get a nice webcam for your computer (if you do not yet have one) as well as good speakers or headphones for future use.

So, we will begin our discussion tomorrow night with: “How can we recognize the “overactivity” of the sacral center in ourselves or children, and what steps can be taken to bring it into balance?” (page two)

This will be the last class of the year and with this book. Next year it has been decided to return to the textbook “The Subconscious Mind and the Chalice.” I will be selecting certain Chapters for us to study so that everyone will have a better, more advanced understanding of the nature of the subconscious mind and why we want to undergo the process of purification as a method to function in the higher Self.

Please register for the class so I can send you the Study Schedule by the end of the year.

Much love,

"The etheric centers transmit prana to all our organs. The deeper we breathe and the cleaner the air, the more vitality we transmit to the corresponding organs of our etheric centers." Pg. 167

On pages 536-7 of this book we read, "Most human beings have lost the art of breathing. People breathe in a very shallow, non-rhythmic, and irregular manner. There must first be a deep inhalation, then an interval, then an exhalation, then again an interval.

Irregular breathing takes place when certain wrong actions, emotions, and thoughts interfere with the rhythm of our breathing.

Our mechanism naturally knows how to breathe, if the human glamors, illusions, and wrong ways of feeling, acting, and thinking do not disturb it and make the breathing apparatus form wrong habits.

In addition to lung breathing, there is also a deeper breathing which is the receiving and assimilation of prana, or solar energy. Solar energy is inhaled only consciously. When you consciously focus your attention on the life energy of the Sun, and breathe it in with the air, you can assimilate it and use it.

Inhalation of prana is proportionate to your unfoldment of consciousness. As you raise and expand your consciousness, you assimilate more prana directly from the Sun…

"We have a body, a real body that is called the etheric body. It is sometimes called the etheric double because our dense physical body is the exact replica of our etheric body.

In the etheric body we have seven etheric centers which are called, from lower to higher:

  • Base of spine
  • Sacral
  • Solar plexus
  • Spleen
  • Heart
  • Throat
  • Head

Each center is a whirlpool of energy."

Why is a center referred to as a "whirlpool" of energy?

"The centers are related to our consciousness, thoughts, emotions, and actions.

We not only have seven etheric centers but also seven emotional centers, which correspond exactly to the seven etheric centers. We also have four mental centers, along with the mental unit, which are called, from lower to higher:

  1. Base of spine in the fourth mental level
  2. Generative organs in the fourth mental level
  3. Solar plexus in the fourth mental level
  4. Spleen in the fourth mental level

In humanity the most active centers, at the present, are the solar plexus and sacral centers."

What examples can we observe regarding the activity of these two centers?

"The solar plexus has two departments. The lower one is related mostly to negative emotions such as hate, fear, anger, jealousy, revenge, slander, malice, nosiness, depression, etc."

What is nosiness, and why is it considered a negative emotion?

"The higher department of the solar plexus is related to lofty aspirations, healing, brotherly feelings, etc.

The overactivity of the sacral center in the world results in complications in the related organs and widespread sexually transmitted diseases."

How can we recognize the "overactivity" of the sacral center in ourselves or children, and what steps can be taken to bring it into balance?

"The heart center is partially open in those who have loving understanding and compassion. The throat center is partially open in creative people. The head center is partially open in those who are in leadership positions, or engaged in scientific discoveries, or who, in their various fields, exercise pure reason, logic, and sacrificial service.

The switchboard of all centers is in the human consciousness. The more we expand our consciousness and the more we dedicate our life to the service of humanity, the more our centers unfold and bring into our aura greater currents of life, love, and light."

What are some signs that one is expanding his/her consciousness? That one is striving to dedicate his/her life to the service of humanity?

"This is why the right way to open our centers is to expand our consciousness and not to use artificial means, postures, yogas, and exercises.

It is a drastic mistake to work directly on the centers. It may have grave consequences on our health and consciousness.

When our consciousness expands, it creates pressure on the mental switches and they let the energy of consciousness go into the centers, energize them, and cause unfoldment.

When we work directly on the centers, we stimulate them mechanically and we put their corresponding glands and related organs in great danger. Some of the cancers in the organs or glands are caused by overstimulation.

If in the past you tried artificially to open the centers, you will experience in this life mental and emotional disturbances and certain diseases."

What is an example of a mental or emotional disturbance/disease as a result of artificially opening centers?

"In such conditions, your centers may still be in a state of overstimulation, or they may be damaged by the reaction of the stimulated organs acting in a reverse manner.

To cure such a condition is not easy, and only a high degree Initiate can handle such cases, if the karma of the subject does not prevent it.

Coordination of the centers is horizontal and vertical. Horizontal coordination is alignment of the centers existing in the same body and coordination with their switches in the consciousness. Vertical coordination is between centers on different planes such as the physical, emotional, and mental planes.

The switches of all centers on the etheric, astral, and mental planes are found in the fourth level of the mental plane."

What might the term "switches" refer to here?

"The coordination process of the centers runs parallel with the purification process."

From Chapter 11, pg. 126: "Purification of the chakras is the first factor in the coordination of centers, and this can be achieved by using them goalfittingly or purposefully." How do we use our centers goalfittingly?

"To unfold your centers naturally and safely, the steps to take are as follows:

  1. Expand your consciousness.
  2. Purify your nature of elementals that prevent the unfoldment of the centers.
  3. Develop the virtues related to the centers.
  4. Use the energies of the centers economically and wisely.
  5. Resign from activities on those levels that are harmful to the centers."

#5 – What is an activity that could be harmful to a particular center?

"Expansion of consciousness is through service and right meditation.

Purification of the centers can be achieved by developing virtues and abstaining from activities that hurt the centers. For example, if the solar plexus is blocked and causing various health problems in its surrounding area, one needs to develop fearlessness, lovingness, inclusiveness, joy, peace, gracefulness, tenderness, etc.

The energies of the various centers are different. For example, the energy of the heart center is love and compassion; the energy of the head center is willpower, the energy of the ajna center is direction; the energy of the throat center is creativity; the energy of the solar plexus center is healing and relationship; the energy of the sacral center is sex; the energy of the base of spine center is sacrificial labor.

Of course these energies can be named differently, but the main point emphasized here is that one must economize and use his centers intelligently and not waste them by overactivity and overstimulation."

How can we recognize the signs of overstimulation and overactivity?

"Of course, those who are on the spiritual path may feel burning sensations in their various centers or connected areas in the body. Such pain often appears intensely, and then suddenly disappears.

When a new energy is poured into any center because of our spiritual progress, that energy burns the dross accumulated from the past or past lives. This is the cause of the pain. When purification is done, the body adjusts itself to the condition of the etheric center and the pain disappears.

We should also be concerned not to feed a center with negative elements. For example, let us assume that your solar plexus is open and you feel the fears, anxieties, and troubles of others and cannot stand it. What will you do? As much as possible, you must try not to feed your solar plexus center with fear, anger, jealousy, hatred, revenge, or greed. If you try to stop such destructive fiery currents from going to your solar plexus, you stop feeding your center and it slowly regulates or normalizes itself."

How do we recognize that we are feeding a center with the negative elements of others? How do we control this?

"To regulate your throat center, the best step to take is to stop gossiping, lying, and slandering people and at the same time to be constructive and energizing through your words and speech.

When you have inflammable material in your pocket, it burns when you approach fire. Similarly, any pollutant existing in your centers burns when new energy is channeled to it. That is why it is necessary to give a rest to your centers before you start nourishing and energizing them.

When your centers are used to serve such things as

they deteriorate and destroy not only your joy and happiness but also your body and even your business.

Misused centers become a load and a powerful burden on your shoulders for many lives."

Nov 18, 2009 Week Twelve – Chapter 11-Part II

We will continue our studies of Chapter Eleven, beginning with page 122. Any questions you have prior to this page is, of course, most welcome and in fact we will open class with your questions left over from last week.

The upcoming solar festival of Sagittarius is December 1st. The keynote of this festival is: "I see the goal. I reach the goal and see another." This is the cycle in which each of us needs to orient ourselves to new goals, to higher contacts, to an expansion in consciousness. It seems to me with these twelve weeks of reading, study and discussion about the human constitution and coordination of the higher centers, we can let the effects of or studies and discussions from these past twelve weeks help us in this orientation process. Of course we must first make contact with the center in Sagittarius, the soul of Sagittarius, and then orient ourselves to this higher center. Through such orientation we will become responsive to our inner direction; a direction which will tell us the next step we must take in our life. Isn't this fascinating?

Look….here we have the most profound Teaching from Space, on earth, available to us – in the form of the Agni Yoga Teaching. This Teaching provides us with a "life map" which will, if followed, help us all to progress and advance into the next kingdom, the kingdom of Souls. Yet some still find themselves in the same rut they were in five years ago; even ten or twenty years ago. They mistakenly believe that freedom is staying in the "same rut," in other words, in the state of "sameness." Some, during this upcoming solar festival, rather than to take advantage of making a higher contact and listening to their inner guidance, will find themselves staying in that same rut, the "sameness" of chasing after more riches – of making more money while their soul remains impoverished. Worrying about the loss of his "life savings;" staying in the rut of depression, desperation, despair; and the running after comfort and pleasure. Still, all is not lost, if that same one hears the "wake-up" call…then all of these ruts will be repaired and the persons consciousness will shift; he will orientate himself in such a way that he will see the next step he must take in his life and establish a goal that will carry him forward. But for disciples, this goal must be taken consciously and vertically. So I ask each of you, as I ask myself, to make ourselves ready to consciously take this "next step" in our life and establish the next goal while the sun is shining upon the sign of Sagittarius.

In Chapter Eleven, p. 122 there is a list of seven strings on the instrument of your being. These seven strings can be used to help you listen to the inner "music" of your soul; the center where you will receive direction to take this next goal. These seven strings are: 1) Pro-survival thoughts, words and actions." It seems to me that this would be a wonderful seed thought to focus our consciousness on as the energies of Sagittarius begins to influence our consciousness. "Pro-survival thoughts, words and actions." Let us begin today! The other strings on the instrument of our being are: 2) Beauty 3) Goodness 4) Righteousness 5) Joy 6) Freedom and 7) Fusion of Synthesis.

"Coordination can be defined as:

  1. A Cooperative relationship between centers on one plane.
  2. Attunement with the Core Center, which is the Chalice.
  3. Synchronization of the centers found on one plane with the centers found on various other planes.

Horizontal and Vertical coordination:

  1. Horizontal coordination is coordination of the centers on the same plane
  2. Vertical coordination is intended to coordinate the etheric chakras with the astral and mental chakras.

"There is another geometrical form created when the solar plexus, heart chakra, and throat chakra of the etheric body coordinate themselves with similar or other chakras of the astral or mental planes.

"Other geometrical forms are created when they are connected with the petals of the Chalice. All these coordinations build the network of sensitivity for incoming impressions." (p. 123)

"Coordination takes place either sequentially or in geometrical forms. The Soul organizes a geometrical procedure because of various needs and conditions of life and of the advancing human soul.

"This procedure is not sequential. It connects various centers on one or several planes, building geometrical forms such as triangles, squares, or pentagons. For example, a geometrical form is created when the solar plexus, heart, and throat function as one unit for certain goals.

"Sequential coordination goes from number one to number seven simultaneously on all planes, although number one is not the first center, but, rather, any center that is more open – from past lives and so on.

Geometrical coordination takes place according to the need of the time and the responsibility of the human soul.

Nov 10, 2009 Week Eleven - Chapter 11 “Coordination of the Centers”

"…Nothing is permanent in Nature if it is not developed and unfolded under its own power, without any artificial stimulation." (opening of the Chapter).

This is a statement humanity needs to take to heart, yes, but especially it's pioneers, members of the New Group of World Servers. Often times the unawakened disciple, the one who is yearning to find that "missing piece" in his life, will resort to artificial stimulation of his or her centers. How is this done? Through wrong meditation or engaging in recreational drugs. I remember back in the days that Timothy O'Leary was experimenting with drugs, specifically LSD and soon found himself with many followers as he continued to write about his various experiences. But you see, this is not how we enable our soul to evolve and our centers to unfold. As the quote in the Chapter says, we must unfold our powers on our own and without any artificial stimulation. Wrong meditation (chanting, forced breathing techniques, some types of pranic breathing, pranic breathing practiced without an experience Teacher, kundalini meditation )experimenting with drugs for spiritual advancement and so forth will not "legally" put us in contact with higher levels of consciousness. If we enter higher levels "illegally" we will suffer the consequences for life times to come.

The way we can made "legal" contact with higher levels of consciousness will be "by means of meditation and sacrificial service." (p. 117)

The Chapter explains that the first centers that must be opened are the etheric centers. (You can reference these centers by going to the photo's section, or reviewing your class handouts.) This is what we can expect, in those first few years of practicing meditation and engaging in sacrificial service, when the etheric centers open naturally: Closer contact with the organs of his body, closer relations with his family, with his nation, humanity, global life, solar and galactic life. (ibid)

With each unfoldment our joy increases but also our "conscious suffering, according to the various conditions of life." What is conscious suffering? Not only does our compassion and sensitivities increase for the suffering of the conditions of our friends and family members, but our humanity, our planet, solar and galactic lives.

The next step the Chapter relates is regarding the development of our emotional centers, where the person "becomes influential emotionally. As our seven astral centers unfold, the person becomes aware of "his own emotions, family emotions, national emotions, human emotions, and planetary, solar and galactic emotions." (p. 118)

The Chapter gives us examples of the violent emotions of the gods of Olympus or the marriage proposals of the seven Rishis to the seven Pleiades. "Most human conditions are the echoes of the emotions of the Higher Worlds." We are then told that "we can have control over these spatial waves of emotions only when we focus ourselves in our Core and control our own emotional responses and reactions.

The Chapter reminds us that "We must emphasize that as our emotional centers open, we feel the joys and sorrows of people – whereas before we were limited only to our own joys and sorrows. We progress through joy and sorrow." (p. 118) This of course is not something to be feared, but to be embraced. As I engage with people from all over the world I have become increasingly aware of two extremes. The first extreme is those whose emotional centers are open and those whose centers are closed. Those whose centers are closed are extremely self-contained, self-centered, and self-focused. This means that life is about only themselves; they become extremely selfish. The opposite is of course true for those whose emotional centers are opened. Such people can eventually become natural healers; when you are around such a person you feel an inner peace, joy, love and a radiating compassion. You feel as if you can trust this person with your most precious secrets.

"We were not always unfeeling. I met a child who was crying over frozen fish. Another child did not eat his supper because his brother had broken a newly planted tree. Another child lay sick for a week when his lamb was slain. But when we grow, we shut off our centers, and even butchering people does not upset us!" (p. 119.) Can you relate to this statement? Of course we can…we see evidence of such behaviors every day.

Fourth center – the heart center

Third center – solar plexus.

The Chapter tells us it is not easy to unfold the heart center "if we are stuck to racism and nationalism" And we will turn into a source of trouble for humanity if we stayed occupied too long with the solar plexus center. "The heart center never opens if a person does not overcome the emotions of separatism." This is why I encourage members, students and friends of the WMEA to avoid becoming nationalists. If a person travels around the world, and has a moderate level of emotional sensitivity, he quickly loses any nationalistic behaviors. One cannot become a world disciple if he is stuck to the culture of his birth place.

The Chapter goes on to tell us that "between all seven centers, there are barriers [webs]. For example, if you are identified with your own emotions, you build a barrier and …cannot identify with the emotions of your family. If you are identified with the emotions of your family and you are lost in them, it will be very difficult for you to pass on to the next center…and so on." (p. 119) On every step of progress, there is a barrier that we must overcome. "The barrier is the test. If we pass the test, we are in a greater life." (ibid)

Many lives are need to pass from one center to another. Some things must be left behind, things that we must renounce; some things that must be built in order to stand under greater pressures and responsibilities." For example, to teach the Ageless Wisdom you must have the ability to "hold" the fires of the Teaching in your centers. This means there must be a certain amount of dedication on working on yourself. If you teach the Teaching without working on yourself, without purifying yourself, without engaging in times for retreat, silence and meditation, the fires will over stimulate your centers.

"Many people are persecuted when their higher centers open." (p. 119) We see this happen with the Great Ones, with the Saints and Sages of all ages. "Sometimes society tries by all means to prevent the opening of your next center because, in their opinion, they lose you when you are subject to a higher influence which makes them uncomfortable. Of course, the interests of vaiours groups are great barriers. It is not easy for them to let you go." (p. 119)

Remember the recent post I gave on Facebook – "unity, unity, unity" said Helena Roerich? She also later encouraged us to work together, labor together, to spend a lot of time together and if we would, we would eventually become one group. Actually this was H.R. speaking for the Master.

"May leaders speak about unity, but because their next higher center is not open, they still act in separatism. Of course they must talk more and more about unity until their being begins to accept the idea.

-When five centers are open: you sense planetary emotional states.

-When six centers are open (rare) you feel solar emotions.

-In one century only six or seven people are able to open the sixth center. Such people feel and register the emotional waves in the solar system. " (pp 119-120)

"All progress is achieved in acts of giving. You must give yourself to:

-your family

-you must give your family to your nation,

-your nation to humanity,

-humanity to the whole planetary life

-the whole planetary Life to the solar system…" (p. 120)

"The process of opening higher centers is the process of withdrawal of the human soul into the higher vehicles." The process puts you in "contact with a higher sphere of influence. This relates to the principle of the "Greater Light Leads."

PROGRESS "depends on your ability to contact and register the contact." It (also) depends on your right translation of your registration and on your ability to adapt your life to your understanding of the registration." (p. 120)

"You never lose your Self, but you find it in higher and higher planes or spheres." (p. 120)

THE SEVEN ETHERIC CENTERS – have their correspondences in the head. "The thousand-petaled Lotus is the sum total of the petals of all the etheric centers. Do not confuse the head centers with the centers of the mental plane.

  1. When the first head center opens, you become conscious of the thoughts of your Inner Guardian
  2. When the second head center unfolds, you become slowly sensitive to the thoughts of others.
  3. Third center – you are able to read the thoughts of a nation or the thoughts of groups in the nation
  4. Fourth center – you become aware of the thoughts of humanity
  5. Fifth head center – you become aware of the thoughts of the One Who ensouls our globe. (this is a very advanced stage, and only a few people reach it in any century.)
  6. Sixth head center – you become aware of solar or spatial thoughts.
  7. Seventh head center open – you receive impressions form galactic sources.

  1. Base of spine
  2. Generative organs
  3. Solar Plexus
  4. Spleen

(these along with the mental unit are located in the fourth level of the mental plane) "When all these centers are active, you can live as a mental entity in the mental plane." (p. 122)

"People often think that the brain thinks or the mind thinks. IN reality, neither the brain nor the mind thinks. The Thinker is either the Solar Angel or the human soul. The brain is the typewriter; the mind is the fingers.

-When you are in the astral or mental plane, you do not need the brain

-When you are in the Intuitional Plane, you do not need the mind because you communicate directly

-Thinking is direct communication between the Solar Angel and the human soul

"But if you want to communicate with the physical plane from the Intuitional Plane, you need the brain and mind, or you use the brain and mind of someone else." (p. 122)

"Each of these centers represents a major virtue, and when the virtue is found and cultivated, the center unfolds naturally and releases creative energies.

The Seven centers of the etheric body and the corresponding glands are as follows:

Head center – pineal gland

Ajna center – pituitary body

Throat center – thyroid gland

Heart center – thymus gland

Solar plexus – pancreas

Sacral center – gonads

Base of spine – adrenal glands

The Chapter tell us that these centers "are not in the physical body but in the etheric body, two to four inches away from the dense physical body." (Tonight we will have a sensitivity test to see learn if it is possible to detect these etheric centers.)

So, then we would ask ourselves, if these centers are found only in one's etheric body, what is physical the "outpost" of these centers? Answer: "The glands are the physical mechanisms of the centers, and they are built according to the type of energy which radiates from the centers." (p. 105)

The Tibetan D.K. says: …The centres can be in one of five conditions. (Remember the spleen center is counted as a center until the Third Initiation. The ajna center exists only after the Third Initiation.

Five conditions:

Closed, still and shut, and yet with signs of life, silent and full of deep inertia.

Opening, unsealed, and faintly tinged with colour; the life pulsates.

Quickened, alive, alert in two directions; the two small doors are open wide.

Radiant and reaching forth with vibrant note to all related centres.

Blended they are and each with each works rhythmically. The vital force flows through from all the planes. The world stands open wide. (AAB, Esoteric Healing, p. 81)

The seven centers have the following characteristics:

Head center. Distributes the energy of the Supreme Self. It has twelve radiation. Color: A MIXTURE OF PURE WHITE WITH GOLD. Around these central twelve petals are arranged another nine hundred and sity-nine petals which are correspondences of all lower center. These 969 petals, plus the 12 are called the thousand-petaled Lotus in the head.

Ajna center. This center has ninety-six petals. Colors: vary with rose, yellow, blue, and purple. Image: Resembles the wings of a bird spreading over the eyebrows – two main petals in which are fond smaller petals resembling the feathers of a peacock. Distributed energy: the transmitted energy is violet in color and the petals are dominated by a white glow. These colors change according to the initiation through which a person passes.

When this center is fully awakened on the etheric plane, the person can see etherically

When it is link with its astral correspondence, you become astrally clairvoyant

Higher clairvoyance comes when you function on the higher mental plane and use the ajna center with the third eye.

Heart center. This center has sixteen petals. Color: A radiating golden color. Distributed energy: The energy passing through the petals appears mostly smoky blue in color.

Solar plexus. This center has ten petals. Color: Rosy in color mixed with green. Distributed energy: The green flow of force comes from the spleen and then goes to the solar plexus. The organs connected with the solar plexus all receive the same flow of green force. They are the liver, intestines and stomach.

The solar plexus is formed by two interlacing triangles. The lower pointing triangle is the mechanism of lower psychism; the other is for higher psychism. Distributed energy: The lower is formed by the lower three centers, and the higher triangle is formed by the energy coming from the head center. The lower channels astral energy; the higher transmits solar energy.

Base of spine. This center has four petals. Color: The colors of the peetals are red mixed with orange. This is not the color of the energy which pours down from the spleen, but the rate of the vibration of the center.

Kundalini: There are three etheric channels originating from the base of spine center which pass through the spinal column. Together they are called kundalini fire.

Pingala sustains the health of the body and feeds it

Ida is related to the consciousness of man

Sushumna is the middle channel (electrical line) which is related to the Spirit aspect. When this becomes active it is slowly raised as the person passes through the major initiations – via living a life of sacrificial service and meditation.

Emotional/mental disorders. These will increase and control his life. Vanity, pride, shallow-mindedness, gossip, and other weaknesses will frow out of proportion.

Third degree Initiate. The only human being who can do this in full consciousness is an Initiate of the Third Initiation. He, and he alone, can safely raise these triple fires form the base of spine center to the head center (p. 109)

When man is controlled by -

The astral plane. Three centers are active forming a triangular circulation of force. These centers are: base of spine, solar plexus and heart

The mental plane. Some of the centers are different although they again form a triangular circulation of force. They are base of spine, heart and throat

Soul-infused. This person is advanced and has a different geometrical formation between the following centers: heart, throat, head and base of spine, solar plexus, ajna, sacral and alta major.

Third degree Initiate uses: He uses the heart center, throat center and the correspondences of the seven centers in the head

Fifth Degree Initiate uses: the heart center, seven head centers and the thousand petaled Lotus

Seen from the subjective levels, an advanced man is an unfolding flower. Master M. often refers to these flowers as the "flowers of My garden." (p. 109

Groups can serve as healing agents when they are coordinated by love. They can render radiatory healing or magnetic healing.

Radiatory Healing:

Radiatory healing is "the healer must seek to link his soul, his brain, his heart and auric emanation." …AAB, Esoteric Healing, p. 654 as listed on p. 110 in our textbook. Within a group radiatory healing is done when the group focuses all its Soul energy and concentrates on the center in the patient where the trouble exists. This must be done gradually.

Magnetic healing. This healing is different. It is an evocative activity of the Soul energy of the group, which releases the fires of the patient's etheric, emotional, and mental bodies; it revives them and urges them to do the work of healing and purification wherever it is needed. It also absorbs those forces which are creating the diseases and passes them through the refinery of the group's etheric body and thereby releases the patient. (p. 110)

Base of spine center, sacral center, solar plexus center – are under the direct control of the first, second and third lower ethers respectively

Heart center – is controlled by the Fourth Cosmic Ether

The Throat center – is controlled by the Atmic Plane, the Third Cosmic Ether

The ajna center – is controlled by the Monadic Plane, the Second Cosmic Ether

The head center – is controlled by the Divine Plane, the First Cosmic Ether

The fourth lower ether – assumes control of the three lower sacral centers (the sacral center and the two sex centers – gonads or ovaries.

Integrated Personality – when the personality vehicles are integrated, the lowest of the Cosmic Ethers, the Fourth, uses the head center to blend the solar plexus and heart, leading to Soul-infusion.

Continuity of Consciousness – starts when the etheric web which is separating the physical brain from the astral world is rent. Here the person becomes in contact with subjective events and gradually becomes conscious on the mental plane; he comes in contact with his Solar Angel and through the Solar Angel with his Master. (p. 111)

When the Monad is identified with the physical nature – it develops the life principle through the heart and heart center.

When identified with the emotional nature, It develops love energy around the nucleus of life in the heart

When identified with the mental nature, It develops intelligence and creative energy around the nucleus of life and love

When identified with physical plane, It develops consciousness in the head center.

When It is identified with the emotional plane, It develops creative intelligence around the nucleus of consciousness

When It is in the mental plane, It develops life energy around the nucleus of consciousness and creative intelligence

HEAD and HEART Centers

When they are equipped with the threefold energy, Light, Love and Will, a fusion is created and their united energy is projected into the throat center.

The throat center then receivs (as a result of the fusion between the head and heart centers…

A ray of life or will lighted by consciousness

A ray of love energized by creative intelligence

A ray of creative intelligence charged with the purpose of life

Through such a projection the throat center becomes the center of creativity in order to manifest the purpose of life.

With their three fold energies form the furnace of alchemy of the spiritual life.

Later, as the human soul progresses, he emerges onto the Intuitional Plane and we see change occurring in the centers.

The head center pulls up the heart and throat centers and a threefold head center comes into being with the heart holding the central power and position.

The heart center becomes the heart center in the head

And the throat center becomes the throat center in the head.

Through such a synthesis,

- the heart center in the head radiates willpower which reveals the Purpose of the greater Will of the Planetary and Solar Lives.

- The head center in the head radiates purposeful creativity charged with wisdom.

- The throat center in the head radiates purposeful activity charged with wisdom. (p. 114)

The pineal (head), pituitary (throat) and carotid (alta major) – serve as anchorages for the activities of these three centers in the head.

As the human soul progresses from one level to another, from one plane to another, his healing powe4r increases over his vehicles.

We must remember that the human soul is trained in his duties by the Solar Angel

The human soul dwells in the heart. That is where the Self is. This heart is the etheric heart center.

From the heart center the human soul operates the lower centers, such as the base of spine, the sacral center, and the solar plexus center, which are all in the etheric body.

Sometimes the human soul identified himself with material objects, sexual objects, food, drink, etc. At these moments he temporarily lives in these three centers. His presence over stimulates these centers and their corresponding glands and prepares the field of suffering and increases karma.

When the human soul is identified with the lower centers, the heart loses its virtues and goes through a process of slow petrification.

It is after long years of suffering and training that the human soul finally picks up the frequency of the Inner Guide and ascends to his throne in the heart center.

The following information is an article written by a co-worker on the subject of the Deva Evolution which I thought some of you might enjoy. Also, please know there is an excellent lecture on the subject of Devas and Angels which I gave April 30th, year 2000. I suggest if you have an interest in this subject that you order that particular lecture.

It is a widespread belief among esotericists and students of occultism that the deva evolution is parallel to the human evolution. This belief probably originates in many sources but not least in the writings of well-known theosophical pioneers like C.W. Leadbeater, Geoffrey Hodgson or Dora van Gelder Kunz.

In the ordinary meaning of the word parallel it would mean that there are devas at the same level of evolution as human beings, that some ramification of the one life passes by humanity and individualises outside the human kingdom so that these beings do not obtain the strictly human experience.

We will in this article discuss the question and seek to establish another working hypothesis, for there is great beauty in the thought that one mighty wave of life sweeps through the various form types of evolution, passing all stages, whether human or devic, and ending up with the total amount of experience possible in planetary and solar manifestation.

In Alice A. Bailey's A Treatise on Cosmic Fire (CF) and H.P. Blavatsky's The Secret Doctrine (SD) we find a number of crucial statements which we shall simply quote in order to make our main point: He must remember likewise the fact that every life of every degree, from a god to the most insignificant of the lesser devas, or builders, must at some time or another pass through the human family. (CF,pp.895-96).

Forget not the occult truism that all forms of existence pass at one stage of their career through the human kingdom. (CF,p.437).

No being can become God, or Deva, unless he passes through the human Cycles. (SD,II, p.336). Moreover, from the beginning of the Round, all in Nature tends to become Man. All the impulses of the dual, centripetal and centrifugal Force are directed towards one point - Man. (SD,II,p.179).

The (goal of the) Lunar Pitris (is) to become men. They will in their higher grades pass directly into the animal evolution of the next cycle and so eventually individualise. (CF,844,tabulation).

The goal for the devas (below the rank of Solar Pitris) is individualisation, and their objective is to become men in some future cycle. (CF,p.836).

These Lunar Spirits have to become "men" in order that their Monads may reach a higher plane of activity and self-consciousness. (SD,I, p.203).

We see that this parallelism, in the ordinary meaning of the word, is not supported by these important sources of esoteric knowledge. But the Tibetan Master also uses the word parallel in relation to the human and deva evolutions. He describes how the human astral body consists of little involutionary elemental lives, which form the vehicle itself, and an evolutionary deva who makes it a coherent whole, and he states that the man, if controlled by them (which most people are), must free himself. He goes on to say: If these remarks are rightly apprehended, some understanding will come of what is meant when the deva evolution is spoken of as being a "parallel evolution" to that of man. In the three worlds the two lines of evolution parallel each other, and must not be consciously one. In the planes of the Triad they are known as a unity, producing the Divine Hermaphrodite…(CF, p. 663).

So the word parallel here refers to types of consciousness and not levels of evolution. But how, then, may we approach the subject in order to clarify our minds about the deva evolution? I suggest we consider the relationship between life, consciousness and form. Kingdoms of nature are merely form types that the life energy occupies in order to develop sentient consciousness. Maybe an analogy from the realm of electronics may be of help here. When an electric current passes through a wire it produces a magnetic field. When the wire is straight the field is low, but when the wire is winded into a coil the field increases its potential according to the number of windings. So life (the current) incarnates in the form types of evolution (the wire) in order to develop consciousness (the magnetic field), and the more complex the form (number of windings) the higher the degree of consciousness power of magnetic field).

The life energy is often spoken of in vague terms like outpourings of life waves, but it is really groups of monads at various levels of development. These groups are called creative hierarchies because they create everything in the system, including the planes of matter or substance. Each hierarchy (not to be confused with the spiritual Hierarchy) represents a certain evolutionary level and incarnates in one or more kingdoms of nature. In the next cycle (whatever that may be) it moves on into the next level.

Each hierarchy has to learn everything possible at its particular level, that is release the raincloud of knowable things, and so we are told that some of the hierarchies have already done that in regard to our cosmic physical plane and are now focused on the cosmic astral plane. From the beginning there are 12 creative hierarchies, and five of them (approximately) have moved on, leaving seven hierarchies within the sphere of evolution that the esoteric teaching normally considers – our seven planes of nature. We may tabulate these seven hierarchies and their functions in relation to man in the following manner (CF,pp.1196-1211):

1. The Fire Lords, wielders of the highest energy in the system.

2. The Divine Builders, the source of the monadic life but not the monads themselves.

3. The Triads, stimulating the higher self in man and making him a spiritual being.

These three hierarchies are highly evolved spiritual beings that have passed the human stage in the previous solar system.

4. The human monads, the core of the present humanity on Earth. They end up on the seven paths of cosmic evolution, most of them following the path to Sirius and becoming solar angels in the next system.

5. The solar angels, the greater builders who form the egoic body of man and give him his self-consciousness. They passed through the human stage in earlier chain periods, and become planetary Logoi in the next system.

6. The Lunar Pitris, the lesser builders or nature spirits who build all life forms in nature, including human bodies, and constitute their inherent life. They become humanity in the next cycle.

7. The elemental lives which animate all particles of matter and constitute the elemental essences. They become the etheric and dense physical body of the next system .

So we see that the fifth, sixth and seventh of the creative hierarchies constitute the deva evolution as we know it on our planet. It means that there are no real subhuman kingdoms of nature, only deva beings developing physical consciousness by inhabiting the forms of nature - a beautiful diamond, a stately tree, or a fish in the water are but devas after all. (CF,p.892).

Maybe we can get some idea of what (for instance) an animal is by comparing it to a human being. Man is the sum total of elemental essences, three evolutionary devas (etheric, astral and mental) and a selfconscious identity expressing itself through the solar angel. But if we remove this identity all that is left is a syndrome of deva forces, and that is what the animal seems to be. So our conclusion now is that the deva evolution is not parallel to the human evolution but passes through it, so to speak.

There is only one life stream, and it moves through various phases of form life in order to develop consciousness. Deva is but a state of consciousness, and so is man.

The Functions and Structure of the Deva Evolution At the creation of the system the planetary Logoi meditates or visualises the archetypal form patterns to be manifested during evolution -- the blue prints of the architect, as it were. These archetypes or blue prints, as assimilated by the greater builders, may be analogous to the manner in which a programme is transferred to the hard disk of a computer. Now it is their task to realise the energy patterns in time and space out of their own essence. So they are the creative forces that build the forms as well as constituting their substance.

This means that the deva evolution belongs under the third or Brahma aspect of the Logos, creative intelligent activity. Therefore the highest officials are the mighty Deva-rajas, seven great Deva Lords manifesting the seven planes of matter from the seven spirillas of the cosmic physical permanent atom — the disc of the sun. This gives us the following tabulation of the three aspects of the Logos (CF,pp.628-30) Please go to Cosmic Fire by A.A.B. to see the tabulation).

So, generally the devas administer all life on Earth except human life. In the planetary body, humanity constitutes the centres, while the devas form the rest of the structure. This may be difficult for us (humans) to comprehend, because we are so used to regarding ourselves as the supreme reign in nature, while we are really tenants in a deva world.

Finally this leads us to the structure of the deva hierarchy of a plane. It might be any of the planes, but for the sake of our general interest we have chosen to tabulate the hierarchy of the physical plane:

  • Kshiti - the Deva Lord of the plane Having a level of evolution corresponding to a chohan of a ray.

-7 Deva Lords - one for each subplane constitute the "council" of Kshiti.

3 groups:

First group - on the first subplane The greater builders, holding the plan of evolution in their consciousness, projecting it to the next group.

Second group - on the second, third and fourth subplanes The lesser builders, assimilating the impulses from the first group, building all life forms including human bodies.

Third group - on the fifth, sixth and seventh subplanes The elemental lives, constituting the substances manipulated by the lesser builders.

Maybe we can regard this model as a working hypothesis concerning the deva evolution. But how come prominent clairvoyants as the ones mentioned above do not agree to this model but regard the devas as belonging to a life stream parallel to the one of human beings?

Maybe their point of view is simply based on observation. Maybe they observe in nature devas who seem to represent a level of consciousness corresponding to the human level.

If we want to answer this question there are three points we should be aware of. Firstly, devas do not seem to be as firmly related to a planetary scheme as human beings do. They may have the whole of the solar system as their field of activity. Secondly, the degree of initiation that concludes and perfects the human stage is not always the fifth as in our present situation, but varies from scheme to scheme, chain to chain and round to round.

And thirdly, their rate of unfoldment seems to be considerably slower than during the human phase. This means that there may be members of the angelic kingdom on Earth who have passed out of the human kingdom in other schemes, chains or rounds at a far earlier stage than the present (the fifth initiation), and that these beings are seen by the clairvoyant observer to be of a level of consciousness corresponding to intelligent humanity.

October 14th, 2009 – Chapter Four – Prana & the Etheric Body

Prana Defined

The etheric vehicle is formed by one etheric thread woven into the same shape as the physical body. This thread serves as a tube through which the solar life-giving energy, or prana, circulates. Prana is a fiery energy which permeates the etheric network. Prana is seen as a golden light, and when seen clairvoyantly, the whole etheric body shines out in flame-colored light. (p. 41)

Solar Pranic Emanations

Different kinds of rays emanate from the Sun. Those which are called solar pranic emanations stimulate the life in the cells and have a constructive effect upon the physical body… The solar pranic emanations work through the four lower ethers. Prana is solar radiation. It is a "vital and magnetic fluid which radiates from the sun." (AAB A Treatise on Cosmic Fire, p. 90)

The radiation of the Sun is received by solar devas… They assimilate and focus the Sun's radiation toward the [person.] The radiation then enters [the person] through the etheric head and etheric shoulders, and reaches the center between the shoulder blades. Then it rushes to a point above the diaphragm and goes to the etheric spleen. [See diagram in New Dimensions of Healing (Torkom Saraydarian) on page 60)

The Etheric Body and Prana:

  • The etheric body receives solar prana from golden devas [golden devas are of a very high order] and planetary prana from violet devas. ["Devas of all kinds and colors are found on the physical etheric levels, but the prevailing hue is violet. With the coming in of the ceremonial ray of violet, we have the amplification therefore of the violet vibration.. There are Four groups of violet devas, associated with the etheric lower subplanes of all that exists on the physic plane. These four are in two divisions, those associated with the building of the etheric body, and those out of whose substance these bodies are built." Solar devas, transmit the vital fluid which circulates in the etheric body. Planetary devas of a violet color, are allied to a person's etheric body, and transmit earth's prana, or the prana of whichever planet man may be functioning upon during a physical incarnation. A.A.B.]

Planetary Prana

  • Planetary prana, therefore, is solar prana which has passed throughout the planet, has circulated through the planetary etheric body, has been transmitted to the dense physical planet, and has been cast off thence in the form of a radiation of the same essential character as solar prana… This again repeats the process undergone in the human body. The physical radiations of men differ according to the quality of their physical bodies. [A.A.B. A Treatise on Cosmic Fire, p. 92 And p. 61 of the textbook

    From The Bhagavad Gita

There is a very interesting reference to devas. For example: "Through your sacrifice, you nourish the Shining Ones, the devas, and they, in their turn, nourish you. Thus, nourishing each other, you will attain the highest good. (3:11)

"The sacrifice here refers to those acts that are charged or fused with selfless thoughts and emotions. Our pure thoughts, aspiration, ecstasy, and joy produce in Space the nourishment the devas like. Our pranic emanations carry with them our emotional, mental, and spiritual vibrations or essence. Thus our emanations either feed the devas or make them sick of us. If the etheric emanations of a person are sending out the fragrance of spiritual achievements, harmony, rhythm, mental nourishment, or emotional purity, the devas will love that person and will help him or her be in increasingly better conditions so that they may enjoy him as a fragrant and a colorful flower with rare qualities.

"Great thinker, great humanitarians and great creative artists enjoy the company of devas who nourish them or receive nourishment from them. … But those individuals who are walking in base thoughts, stagnated emotions and harmful actions smell like decomposing animal bodies. These people repel the devas of high order. Eventually the higher nature of these people starves and they fall into the hands of their animal urges and drives." (from the text book, p. 63-64)

"Devas help in various ways when you nourish them with your pure essence." (p. 64)

"Devas help in various ways when you nourish them…

They fill your sphere with great magnetism

They link your mind with higher clouds of knowledge and information

They remind you of things from the past which can be used in your creative speech.

They carry messages from your friends and from their Souls.

    They warn you of dangers.

    They open opportunities for you.

They protect your aura from the thoughts of your enemies.

(See diagram on p. 65 of our text book 'New Dimensions in Healing")

"We are told that at this time the center between the shoulder blades is "the main center of the reception of prana." The center above the diaphragm is not truly active in most cases at this time. (p. 65)

"The prana received by the centers (Center between the shoulder blades, Center above the diaphragm and the etheric spleen) have saucer-like depressions, resembling somewhat the appearance of small whirlpools. These whirlpools draw within their sphere of influence the currents that come their way. The prana then enters into the etheric and physical body, revitalizing all parts of these bodies. This fluid 'finds its point of departure for the entire system at the further side of the spleen [see spleen handout in photo section] to that at which the prana entered." (AAB, A Treatise on Cosmic Fire, p. 99 – also p. 65 of our textbook). As the prana or fluid circulates through these three centers and the etheric body, it is affected by the quality and health of the centers, the spleen and the etheric body.

-The prana circulates three times around the three pranic centers, which form a triangle, and is distribute into the body. (p. 66)

-The prana blends with the fire of kundalini, drives that fire gradually upward toward the head, and transfers the fire of the lower centers to the corresponding higher centers.

Base of spine – head center

    Solar plexus – heart center

    Sacral center – throat center

    Etheric Body

"The etheric body during incarnation, stands as a barrier between the astral plane and the dense physical body and protects the body from the astral force. But when we develop continuity of consciousness we can eventually penetrate into the astral plane through some etheric doors and function on the astral plane as well." (p. 67)

"Any premature penetration into the astral realms produces serious difficulties and disorders in the physical body and in the consciousness of the person." (ibid)

"Astral force is fiery, and its frequency is more portent than the physical. When it flows into unready etheric centers, it creates excessive stimulation in the corresponding organs, creating overdevelopment or destruction of the tissues in the glands and organs." (ibid)

September 30, 2009 – Chapter Three – Fourth Week

  1. The etheric body is an electromagnetic field in and around our physical body. The etheric body is the blueprint of our physical body. It is exactly the shape of our physical body except that all its organs and all its structures are etheric. (p. 41)
  2. The etheric body is related to the whole manifested Universe and is a vehicle of prana. The etheric body is the communication link between all parts of manifestation and prana is the vivifying, vitalizing energy which keeps the manifestation alive.(p. 43)
  3. Zodiac. We receive impressions or energies from zodiacal sources or even higher constellations through our lower and higher ethers and especially via our higher centers. (p. 43)
  4. Centers. If our centers are open within our subtle bodies, we will be able to synchronize the greater Centers, Hierarchy, Shamballa, other planets, or galaxies. We can tune to them and be impressed by their energy, direction, or message. (p. 43)
  5. Purification allows us to be in continuous contact with the whole existence. (p. 43)
  6. Cosmic Ethers are particles of electrical fire. [Joleen: fire of spirit] They connect man with the corresponding planes of planetary existence. (p. 43)
  7. The lower ethers have their roots in the higher ethers. (ibid)
  8. Evolution of man proceeds when the higher ethers gradually flow into the lower ethers and replace them entirely. (ibid)
  9. Even though the lower ethers originate from the higher ethers, they are slowed down in their vibration due to contact with the lower layers of matter. IN some cases they are pure, and the prana circulates freely through them. In other cases they are polluted by various conditions of the pem bodies and environmental conditions. (ibid)
  10. SUBLIMATION: The first stage of sublimation is a result of the inflow of the Intuitional Light, (Fourth Cosmic Ether) into the FOURTH LOWER ETHERIC LEVEL (chemical ether). The chemical ether is connect to the four centers (base of spine, generative organs, solar plexus and spleen) (ibid) [Joleen, see centers/glands diagram]

    - If something is wrong with any of these related organs of these four centers, it is probably caused by a disorder in this ether. If there is any blockage in this ether, energy cannot circulate freely and the organs as a whole suffer. (ibid)

    - Color/inner ear/Chemical ether. The chemical ether is very sensitive to colors, which often change into sounds in the inner ear. When a higher percentage of intuitional substance or the Fourth Cosmic Ether penetrates and increases in the fourth etheric level you hear the colors and see the sounds. Also, you hear the thoughts of other human beings. (p. 43-44)

Second Stage of sublimation: (Third Cosmic Ether)

  • The next stage of sublimation is the inflow of the 3rd Cosmic Ether, the Atmic Plane, into the third lower ether..the life ether. Connected to the generative organs and seminal fluids. When the third Cosmic Ether penetrates into the third lower ether, you develop higher clairvoyance. (p. 44)

Third Stage of sublimation: (Second Cosmic Ether)

  • The inflow of the Second Cosmic Ether, the Monadic Plane, into the second lower ether called the light ether. (p. 44)
  • The electricity of this layer supplies heat to the body. It is closely related to the nervous system and the muscles, and builds a bridge between the physical body and the outside world. When the Second Cosmic Ether's substance penetrates and increases in this second lower ether, a person develops divine vision and healing powers. (ibid)

Fourth/Last Stage of sublimation: (First Cosmic Ether)

  • First Cosmic Ether. The last state of sublimation is the inflow of the First Cosmic Ether – Adi or Divine Plan, into the first lower etheric level (reflecting ether) and the electricity passing through it enables the soul to control his vehicles by means of thought. This ether has the ability to store memories. When the First Cosmic Ether penetrates and increases in this level, it creates the power of pure Intuition and the memory of past lives. (ibid)
  • "…Light…has a close connection with and uses, as a medium, the second ether. …Sound functions through the third ether. …Colour…is allied to the fourth ether." (AAB A treatise on Cosmic Fire, p. 320. Also electric fire manifests as color on the Buddhic Plan) (Ibid, p. 44)
  1. Continuity of consciousness is achieved on all planes when the two etheric potions of man, the higher and the lower, are fused within each other and the lower etheric body is the continuation of the higher, the Cosmic Ethers. Through continuity of consciousness, man becomes aware of the activities of various Ashrams existing on the Intuitional and higher Planes. (p. 44)

WEEK TWO ON CHAPTER THREE – Beginning p. 45

The formation of the etheric body takes place as follows (p. 45) As the rays of the Cosmic Ethers pass through the Solar Angel, they form a single ray which, as one thread, hits the physical permanent atom and serves as a film negative or a photographic place. The content of the physical pem atom is then carried out by the etheric thread and protected as the prototype of the etheric body. The etheric body is totally conditioned by the content of the physical perm. atom. (See diagram on p. 45)

Archetypal Plane: is the Plane of Adi – the Divine Plane. (p. 46)

Weavers/Lesser builders: Weave the etheric thread into the etheric body. Once the etheric body is woven from the etheric thread, it attracts elements which it condenses, forming the physical body as its shadow.

Physical Permanent atom: The lesser builders weave the etheric body according to the contents of the phys. perm atom and according to the archetype. (p. 46)

Initiates system: Remember the substances that form the brain, nervous system or glands of higher Initiates are not the same as the elements found in the bodies of others. (ibid)

Anchorages: Three groups of Angels. The second group brought the mental unit and placed it in the mental body as an anchorage to be used later to influence animal man. This was an anchorage in mental matter. There is another anchorage, and this is the Mental Permanent Atom which is linked to the Spark. Between these two points the bridge must be built so that man becomes the human soul and leads himself into conscious immortality. (ibid)

Mental Unit. If the mental unit is destroyed, the Solar Angel can never come back to that person. The mental unit is the Holy Mother, or the seed of active intelligence. It can be destroyed through extreme criminality or corruption. And in a positive way, eliminated during the Fourth Initiation with the S.A. withdraws. (ibid)

Additional information: The Mental Perm Atom is the future. It is the seed of the next mental body in which are accumulated the best micro-records of the thoughts of the past, thoughts that are related to the three higher levels of the mind. The human soul travels from the lower mind to the higher mind, and eventually reaches the Mental Perm Atom. This atom is surrounded by the highest mental substance, and it is a center of force which controls the formation of the mental body for the next incarnation. The Mental Perm. Atom carries the charge of that energy which we call the Monadic Ray. It is in a sense the physical sun of the personality, through which energies and forces are distributed to all cells and atoms of the threefold personality.

The mental unit registers our experiences in the waking state of mind. It controls the impressions coming from the five senses and takes conscious actions, as far as its unfoldment permits. Posthypnotic suggestions cannot penetrate into the mental unit. Posthypnotic suggestions go into the subconscious mind, where they turn into irresistible commands.

"The mental [unit] is not a septenary permanent atom. …as it responds to only four types of force. [Joleen: This is because there are only four spirillae with the Mental Unit. Each of these spirillae have a different group of lives which have specific functions of their own, whereas the Mental Permanent Atom and the physical and astral permanent atoms each have seven spirillae.]

Mental Unit and Mental Perm Atom – A creative activity. This anniversary we are going to talk about Creativity and Service in our breakout session following Carol Woodard's presentation. So, let me share a bit more about the creative process between the M.U. and the M.P.A. In the creative process, the M.P.A. and the M.U. are very closely involved. The continuous stream of sparks flows from one to the other. The M.P.A. sends charges, and the light is seen on the fourth mental plane through the M.U. then it penetrates the etheric brain and into a force field created by the pineal gland, the pituitary body, and the alta major center. (See diagram ) It then passes to the cells of the brain. When the creative activity is of a very high order the unfolded petals of the Lotus participate in the evaluation of impressions and ideas coming down from Higher Sources.

Prophesies: Many people today are sending out via the internet and in conversation with co-workers telling people about the coming events between now and 2012 and after. This is my feelings about it. If they really are prophetic, then they can take that creative energy and put their service into work. How? By drawing people into the Teachings. Have them study this Blog. Have them study the book New Dimensions of Healing and put the Teachings into practice. If such people really do have the bridge built between the M.P.A. and the M.U. they will stop propagating fear and put people on the path of Transformation. Then each person will be in the right place at the right time. And we may even avert the many forecast disasters. It is all about building Right Human Relations. Won't you join myself and others in this endeavor?

Sublimation: The first step (p. 47) The first step in sublimation and transformation of the person is to bring more and more intuitional substance into the lower ethers, electrifying them with higher fires. As the person's contact with the Intuitional Plane increases, he simultaneously learns to free himself from his etheric body. (p. 47) When the intuitional substance composes 50% percent of the lower ethers, the person releases himself from the fourth subplane of the astral body. 75% percent…then the consciousness liberates itself from the fourth subplane of the mental plane and functions in the causal body (higher mind). 100% percent...the person receives his liberation from the physical, etheric, astral and mental bodies and acts consciously on the Buddhic or Intuitional Plane. At this stage, the [person] is an Arhat, a Fourth Degree Initiation. (p. 47)

Transfiguration: It is at the Third Initiation, the first major initiation or the Transfiguration, that the Initiate can escape from the limits of the lower ethers and function on the higher mental planes. (p. 47)

Initiations and Planes: At the Fourth initiation – he escapes from the limits of the lower ethers and functions on the higher mental planes.

-Fourth Initiation – he destroys the causal body.

-Fifth Initiation – he functions in the Third Cosmic Ether, the Atmic Plane.

-Sixth Initiation, he functions in the Second Cosmic Ether, the Monadic Plane

-Seventh Initiation, he functions in the First Cosmic Ether, the Divine Plane And then begins to function in the Cosmic Astral Plane. He has not graduated from the Cosmic Physical plane.

Christ: We are told that Christ is progressing in the Cosmic Astral Plane. (p. 48)

September 23, 2009. Chapter Three: The Etheric Body

Glossary for our Class Studies: 1

Etheric Body: Important points to remember:

The etheric body is an electromagnetic field in and around our physical body. It is the blueprint of our physical body. It is exactly the shape of our physical body except that all its organs and all its structures are etheric. 2

The etheric vehicle is formed by one etheric thread woven into the same shape as the physical body. This thread serves as a tube through which the solar life-giving energy, or prana, circulates. 3

Prana is a fiery energy which permeates the etheric network. Prana is seen as a golden light, and when seen clairvoyantly, the whole etheric body shines out in flame-colored light.

Spark and the Bodies:

A man in his Essence is a Spark of that Almighty Power [of the universe.] And this Spark gradually builds the body, the emotional body, and the mental body with the help of the constructive forces in the Nature. Everything can be built if there is a plan and if there is a focus to manifest that plan.

For example, a chair does not come suddenly and build itself, does it? Have you seen any construction in which the bricks fly and ten minutes later you have a house? That house is built by the soul of the house. Who is the soul? That soul is you.

The soul has a plan and knows how to adapt the material into that plan and build that form into a vision. You are the same thing. Your physical atoms and cells, emotional atoms, and mental atoms are drawn by a magnet that is you. This magnet draws them together and according to the plan that is in you he builds the body, he builds the emotional body, he builds the mental body and slowly, slowly develops them, sublimates them, transforms them. 4

Bodies Defined:

[The] Body or vehicle is organized matter ensouled by an elemental, built on a specific plan to manifest a specific purpose. We have several bodies; each of these fulfills a purpose.

The purpose of the physical vehicle is to make the man know about the physical world, to make him relate with it and bring changes within it according to the intentions or the plan of a higher Entity. The same applies to the emotional and mental bodies with their corresponding spheres. These three bodies also act as refineries.

The mental body is a living organism, spread all over our body and condensed around our head. The emotional body is another living entity surrounding our body. It has its own centers 5 and energy lines. The etheric body is a coil of energies surrounding and penetrating the physical body. It has seven main centers, and it is the vehicle which absorbs prana from the sun and transmits it to the physical body. 6

Development of Bodies:

The three lower bodies [physical-etheric, astral, and mental] must develop harmoniously if a person wants to live a long and happy life. If only one body is cared for, imbalance results. The health of the body is equal to its transformation. A person can physically live for ninety years like an animal, but when his astral and mental bodies develop, they exercise great pressure on the undeveloped body and create disturbances in it unless it develops along with the subtler bodies. 7

Cooperation and Bodies:

If your body, emotions and mind cooperate with your visions, ideas, and soul, you can accomplish great works and you will become a Tower in your nation and in humanity. 8

Personality and Bodies:

Physical, astral, and mental bodies form the personality until it is integrated by the light, love, and will of the human soul. 9

Inner Constitution of Man:

…it will be helpful if we have a clear picture in our mind of the inner constitution of man and a real knowledge of the human body and human biology. 10

The Real Human Being:

The human being must always be progressive. This is the fundamental law of life. We have three natures. "We" means the real soul, the real human being within us.

The first is the physical nature. We must always try to make our physical nature beautiful, healthy, and energetic; we must always keep it in activity or in action.

Some people hurt their physical nature by doing things that are not healthy, and eventually they regret it. Spiritual progress cannot be made if your physical nature is not taken care of. You must be healthy, happy, energetic, and beautiful.

The second nature is the emotional nature. This is a complicated nature. We have a physical body, and it is a great mystery for science. There are many things we do not know yet about our physical nature. The same is true of our emotional nature.

If we think about our emotional nature, we can see how emotions affect our life. Emotions affect our physical body, our glands, our lymphatic system, our blood, our nervous system, and especially the liquid in the body. If the emotions are not controlled and beautiful, the physical body suffers. This is why, in all religions and philosophies, the great thinkers say that we must really pay attention to our emotions. 11

Real Education and Bodies:

Real education is the process through which we refine our physical, emotional, and mental natures, integrate them, and eventually fuse them with the Inner Self or the Core of our being. The process of refinement is a process of purification and reconstruction. The physical body needs purification, revitalization, and reconstruction. The emotional nature needs continuous refinement, purification, and reconstruction in order to be able to receive clear impressions and respond to such impressions in a more improved way. The mental nature not only needs purification from all those elements which hinder the mind working at optimum capacity, but it also needs reconstruction. Certain subtle mechanisms must be built in the mental nature to allow the human soul higher contacts.

Not only must these three natures function at their optimum capacity, but they must also complement each other and synchronize with each other in the greatest possible cooperation. After this occurs, man must try to fuse these three natures with the Inner Self, the source of vision and the source of creative challenge. This is the goal of education as far as the individual is concerned. 12

Physical Body Defined:

The dense physical body, which is the sumtotal of all the organisms which compose it; these possess the varying functions which enable the soul to express itself on the physical or objective plane as part of a greater and more inclusive organism. The physical body is the response apparatus of the indwelling spiritual man and serves to put that spiritual entity en rapport with the response apparatus of the planetary Logos, the Life in which we live and move and have our being. 13

Nature of Physical Body:

The physical body is an automaton of whichever inner body is the strongest. When you remember that the vital [etheric] body is the recipient of the streams of energy, and is in fact composed and formed of such streams, and that the physical body is driven into activity by these streams, it is apparent that that stream which is the most potent is the one which will control the action of the physical body upon the physical plane. 14

The physical body (etheric and dense) can be pictured as a house with two telephonic installations—one bringing in energies from without the house and the other being in the nature of a house telephone from room to room. The analogy is far more accurate than appears to the casual thinker. In every modern house, light and water and gas and telephonic interchange are brought. Light, the symbol of the soul; water, the symbol of the emotions; telephonic interchange, the symbol of mind with its intercommunication of knowledges; and gas, the symbol of the etheric nature. 15

The physical body, therefore, is not a principle. It is conditioned and does not condition—a point oft forgotten. It is a victim of personality life or the triumphant expression of soul energy. 16

You must bear in mind that, as H.P.B.17 points out, the dense physical body is not a principle. It is atomic matter which is held in form by etheric substance, under the control of the soul. It is automatic in its response, and reacts to the outer world of impacts and inner impulses, but has no initiatory life of its own. It is composed of units of energy, as is all else in nature, and has its own individual life; its focus for the distribution of energy for this life is the spleen. 18

One of the things which frequently puzzle students is the statement that the dense physical body is not a principle….What, in the last analysis, is a principle? A principle is…the germ or the seed on each subplane which embodies some aspect of the divine unfolding consciousness; it is that which is fundamentally related to some form of sensitivity; it is that to which the bodies, as they evolve, find that they can respond. A principle is a germ of awareness, carrying all the potentiality of full consciousness on some particular level of divine activity. It is that which makes knowledge and conscious response to environment possible; it is that which connotes a sequential and "unrolling" sensitive activity, resulting in divine understanding possible and inevitable.

….At present, the physical body is the only one which is as yet so fully developed that it has in this planetary scheme of ours no further evolutionary development, except in so far as the spiritual man can affect it—and most of the effect is produced in the etheric body and not in the dense physical. This is a point little grasped but of major importance. 19

To sum up: the physical body is not a principle; it is not a main object of attention of the aspirant; it automatically responds to the slowly unfolding consciousness in all the kingdoms of nature; it constantly remains that which is worked upon and not that which has an innate influence of its own; it is not important in the active process, for it is a recipient and not that which initiates activity. That which is important is the unfolding consciousness, the response of the indwelling spiritual man to life, circumstances, events and environment. The physical body responds. 20

The physical body—no matter what its victims may believe and declare—is always conditioned by inner causes; it is never, intrinsically, itself a cause. It is, in this solar system and on our planet, automatic and affected by causes generated on the inner planes or by statement. The physical body has no true life of its own, but is simply—in this cycle—responsive to impulses emanating from elsewhere. Its achievement and its triumph is that it is an automaton. 21

Esoteric students are willing to recognise that the physical body is automatic in its response to emotional, mental or soul impression; so closely, however, is the etheric body interwoven with the physical vehicle that it is well nigh impossible to separate the two in consciousness; this will not be proven or possible until the science of etheric energy and the development of clairvoyant perception demonstrate the truth of what I say. 22

The Physical Body and Health:

When man becomes a Master 23, his physical body absorbs the highest and purest prana 24, and he is then able to live in his physical body as long as he wants. 25

The physical body is sometimes called the temple which must be kept beautiful, holy and strong. To have such a body, we must give attention to the following:

  1. Nutrition
  2. Rest, or Relaxation
  3. Breathing
  4. Drinking
  5. Physical Exercise
  6. Sex
  7. Sleep

First, let us consider nutrition. Volumes have been written on this subject, but to keep it short, we may say that we should include in our diet:

  1. Fruits
  2. Vegetables
  3. Grains
  4. Nuts, seeds
  5. Fresh butter, natural cheese
  6. Herb teas, juices, water

Second, attention must be given to the rest which our bodies require. During rest, nature does the needed repair work on our bodies. Here we are referring not only to our rest at night, or our rest after our daily work, but also to a special rest which we must give our three bodies; our physical mechanism, our emotional nature and our mental vehicle.

This special rest involves occasional retreats, reticence and celibacy on mental, emotional and physical levels, enabling our mechanism as a whole to have a complete rest and become in tune with the Lord. Of course, we can experience this rest daily, if we have enough control over our vehicles. During a good rest, we tune in with the energies of nature, and let them harmonize our whole existence with the source of life, the Life coming from our Home.

Third, we must give attention to our breathing. Most of us do not know how to breathe correctly. This does not refer to the breathing exercises. This breathing is our daily, natural breathing, which should be rhythmic and deep enough to vitalize our entire organism and brain.

Our homes and offices need pure air, free from smog and various irritating gases which slowly poison us. The simple way of learning deep, natural breathing is to rise early in the morning and, while walking in the garden, to inhale slowly the fresh air for eight counts, hold the breath for eight counts, and exhale to the count of eight, holding again for eight counts. Do this ten or fifteen times. The same routine can be followed in the evening before going to bed.

Fourth, we should be careful about what we drink. Those who want to cultivate the mind and spiritual nature should use very little alcohol, or better yet, should not use it at all. One should drink pure water, fruit juices of every kind, herb teas and unprocessed milk.

Fifth, it is healthful to walk under trees in the mountains where vital, fresh air is found. Swimming is also good for the body. Great care must be given to body cleanliness.

Our sixth point is sex. This is a most important subject for those who want to change their way of life, and to sublimate their emotions and thoughts. The sexual act is closely connected with our nervous and glandular systems, as well as our higher mind and brain. By using it economically and wisely we improve our mental and physical health and assist the carriage, pulled by the horses and guided by the driver, to run more smoothly.

The seventh point is sleep. Sleep is very important to the carriage, the physical body, for it is during the period of sleep that this body rebuilds itself. We need to sleep in pure air after relaxing our body, emotions, and mind. We need eight hours of sleep, but if we are living at a high altitude, five to six hours will be sufficient. 26

SEPTEMBER 16, 2009. Week Two. Chapter Two: Human Constitution

Week Two -09/16/2009 : Chapter Two

What we are made of:

Physical Body:

-Is made of a dense physical vehicle – flesh and bones.

-There is also a liquid part: lymph, blood and various secretions

-There is also the air or gas found in the ventricles of the brain, in certain bones, etc.

-Four Ethers which all total makes up the physical/etheric body. The totality of which is our etheric or electromagnetic body.

Four Cosmic Ethers

The four cosmic ethers are called the Intuitional, Atmic, Monadic and Divine Planes.

[I will email diagram to you]]

Our Etheric Body

“Our etheric body, formed by the four lower ethers, (chemical Ether-4, Life Ether -3, Light Ether-2, Reflecting Ether1is a mechanism which receives energy from the Sun, assimilates it, and passes it through the etheric and physical spleen. Thus our body is energergized.

“The prana of the Sun is received by specific centers on the head and shoulders and passed to three centers in the etheric body.

CENTERS – The Triangle:

1.     The point between the shoulder blades.

2.     Above the diaphragm

3.     Etheric spleen

4.     When prana enters this triangle it circulates in it three times then goes through the etheric spleen and passes to the physical spleen, then from the physical spleen directly into the blood.

The Energy in the Etheric Body is called:

-Active heart or solar radiation or prana

1.     Internal vitalizing fire

2.     Latent heat

The combination of these two fires are considered one fire: fire by friction\

1.     Fire of the Mind which is called: Solar Fire

1.     Fire of the spirit: Electric Fire

“The health of the human being depends on these major fires – through the right relations between the fires and their eventual fusions.

-First fusion: is the fusion of the internal vitalizing fire, latent heat, and active heat or prana. (These three fires fuse with each at a point between the shoulder blades. This is a great accomplishment which brings health and happiness.

-Second fusion: This fusion takes place between the shoulder blades, and the fire of mind : solar fire. The solar fire increases and pulls the fire focused between the shoulder blades up to the head.

“During this process the three currents of fire coming form the base of spine, the Kundalini fire, mixed with the pranic fire climb and contact the throat center, which transmits the fire of mind.

“As the Kundalini fire rises in the three etheric channels, it meets with the firs of mental substance as it radiates from the throat center, and climbs up to the neck until it contacts the fire of the mental triangle.

[See handout]

Is composed of:

-Throat center

-Pineal gland

-Pituitary body

“As the two fusions begin between the two first, the alta center replaces the throat center.”

-Third Major Fusion:  The third major fusion takes place between the mental fire, the second fusion (solar fire) and the fire of spirit of electric fire. This takes place in the head center two inches above the head.

The four ethers, as a whole, form the blueprint and electrical system of the physical body.

-The human etheric body has four dimensions. They are called from coarser to finer ethers: fourth, third, second, and first ethers.

-the 4th ether controls: the base of spine, regenerative organs, solar plexus and spleen centers (see diagram) and it is called the chemical ether (see diagram)

-Congestion occurs when too much prana is drawn into the physical body. Destruction of the etheric network occurs when the energy accumulated in the etheric body is used for self-interest.

-Congestion occurs when the pranic centers absorb more energy than the body can handle.

-The destruction of the etheric network occurs when incoming pranic energy burns certain parts of the etheric body. This has its physical causes.

-Burning occurs when the latent fire does not balance the pranic fire. [Latent fire is one’s inherent fire; one’s bodily heat. This has its correspondence with fire by friction. The internal vitalizing fire is the sum total of individual kundalini. Prana is “active heat, or active fire.” Latent heat is the opposite of active heat- fire (prana). Prana (active heat or fire) is the driving force of the evolving form. It shows itself in the four ethers and in the gaseous state. ]
